"Leeds Professional College and University of Derby have now formed a Partnership.
David Boyes The Principal of LPC and Hari Punchihewa Deputy Chief Executive of University of Derby signed a five year contract. The two institutions will work together to form a collaborative partnership.

Another achievement from Business Development Team of Leeds Professional College in the field of health and social is being aired.

  • The College sought approval of the Level 7 Health & Social Care Course from NCFE and NCFE stamped the course full accreditation

25.10.10 >>> Leeds Professional College to deliver with The University of Derby the International Foundation programme
Leeds Professional College is proud to announce that with The University of Derby the International Foundation Programme will be taught at Leeds Professional College campus.

The University of Derby currently has 17,000 students studying here in the UK, including over 800 international students from more than 120 countries. So you won't be on your own and you will have a really multicultural experience. Derby is a bustling city about an hour and a half away from London by train, and an hour from Birmingham.

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) will be run at Leeds Professional College subject to approval and is aimed at international students that need a bridging course to first year undergraduate study at the University of Derby. The IFP has a key academic English element to it, aimed at developing the level of English from IELTS 4.5 to 6.0 during the programme. The programme equips international students with the necessary academic skills and conventions that they are possibly missing due to a difference in education systems and expectations.

The programme will equip the student with academic subject knowledge in their chosen field of study, bringing familiarity with the concepts that students will be expected to study during their first year.

Programme Aims
The aims of the International Foundation Programme are:
  • Provide appropriate academic knowledge that will underpin future study in a student’s chosen field.
  • Equip students with the academic study skills needed for undergraduate study at the University of Derby.
  • Equip students with an English language competence of at least IELTS 6.0
  • Develop language ability beyond the IELTS exam focusing on extended essay writing, presentation skills, and group work.
  • To offer a high quality learning experience which bridges the gap between high school qualification and the entry requirements of the University of Derby.

25.10.10 >>> Induction Day at Leeds Professional College

The Induction Day is viewed by Leeds Professional College as a vital step in the preparation of students for the UK and its eduction system. The vast majority of our students in this intake are from overseas, some arriving only over the weekend. The day started with David Boyes (Principal) making the welcome address to the students and an explanation of the policies, guidelines and procedures of the college. This was followed by Mr Munir Ahmed (Director) with a warm welcome to the students that lead refreshments.

The day allowed students the opportunity to meet tutors and other students in a friendly atmosphere. All students received college handbooks, course handbook, and course timetables. The induction helped to ease the inevitable concerns international students have after leaving their home countries and arriving in cosmopolitan country like the UK.

Leeds Professional College is honoured to announce the appointment of Dr Rory Perrett to the Leeds Professional College Board of Governors. The college believes that having such a highly experienced and knowledgeable individual on the Board will take it from strength to strength and provide a unique learning experience for its learners.
Dr Rory Perrett is currently a Director with a Leeds based company specialising in providing project management and consultancy in Corporate Social Responsibility and education. Previously he was the Assistant Principal (Development) at Doncaster College where he was successful in the validation of new MBA programme, secured a collaborative partnership with Chinese colleges, and secured circa £1m Enterprise College Project Contract. Rory has extensive experience in both the education sector and industry, this is knowledge and experience that he is will to share with Leeds Professional College.

Ahmed Munir, Chief Executive of Leeds Professional College, welcomes the appointment of Board and looks forward to work with them very closely. New Campus for Leeds Professional College

Following British Accreditation Council approval Leeds Professional College have now moved to a new bespoke campus. Capacity of the campus is now 1000 students local and international as approved by BAC.

Very successful tour in Pakistan
Leeds Professional College representatives embarked on a tour of Pakistan from 11 July 2010 to 18 July. The college was assisted by the British High Commission, British Council and the United Kingdom Trade and Investment. The agenda of the tour was to meet very high quality agents and to train the agents in the selection process as set out by the college. The tour was very successful thank you to everyone involved.
